Sections
When do sections start?
Sections will start the week of September 7 (Week 1).
How do I know what section I am in
You can see your section assignment on the CS50 Dashboard
What are the section times and locations?
All sections will take place over zoom. Your TAs will provide you the link ahead of time.
The complete list of sections is below (all times on this table are Eastern time). 2-hour less comfy section are intended for students with no programming background who are nervous about the class; 90-minute more comfy section are intended for students with any programming background at all, who are feel confident about the class, or who generally feel comfortable with math and other quantitative subjects.
Remember that section is required, so you need to be available at one of these times and you must stay for the entire time each week. Also remember that you must complete the pre-section quiz before your section starts. You will normally start on your pset during section, so we cannot offer sections later in the week without putting some students at a disadvantage.

How do I know which comfort level to pick
See the advice above and make whichever choice feels right at the moment. We’ll let you ask to switch comfort levels for a couple of weeks after sections start so you have time to discover which comfort level is right for you.
How do I sign up for section or request a time change?
If you have not yet signed up for section, or you would like to change sections, complete the section sign-up form by 2020-09-13T23:59:00-04:00 so we can process the changes on Mon, Sep 14 ahead of the Week 2 section. Make sure to give your preference for every section time of both comfort levels. Also make sure to give the specific reason for each time conflict, such as the course number of a conflicting course. If you are requesting a time change, make sure your current section is not one of your preferred times (it’s fine to make it an “ok” time); our sectioning algorithm will never move you from a preferred time of the correct comfort level to a different preferred time. It will attempt to move you from an “ok” time of the correct comfort level to a preferred time.
After Sep. 13, you will have an additional two weeks switch comfort levels: until 2020-09-27T23:59:00-04:00.
Why aren’t we using Preference Selection?
We don’t use the registrar’s preference selection system because it can’t take your preferred comfort level into account, nor is it open to most graduate students. We have about 50 graduate students that cannot access preference selection.
